Melvin Wallace Smith

Melvin Wallace Smith of Shallowater passed away on Monday, April 16, 2012 at the age of 65. He was born September 17, 1946 in Ft. Worth to Rufus Charles and Cornelia Lula (Collier) Smith. Melvin spent his career in the U.S. Air Force, retiring in 1989, and was a member of the American Legion. He married Kathryn Turner on July 25, 1968.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of more than 43 years, Kathryn; son, Jason of Ft. Worth; daughter, Victoria Johnson and husband Jeff of Shallowater; sister, Juanita Formby and husband Randy of Mineral Wells; four grandchildren, David Smith and Jeanette, Devin, and Kameron Johnson; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Melvin was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Maggie Campbell and Carolyn Corneilson.

Memorial services are scheduled for 3:00 p.m. Thursday, April 19, 2012 at Combest Family Memorial Chapel.
