Marica was born in Lubbock, Texas to Frank Manuel Garcia (1958) and Julia Segura Garcia (2006) who preceded her in death. Marica went to be with her Abba Father on Monday, August 31, 2020 at the age of 84 taken by corona virus. In 1975 Marica left for California with her children to take advantage of a better economic life. She worked for Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. She retired from there after 15 years of service and then returned to Lubbock.
Marica was preceded in death by her loving husband of more than 44 years, Henry V. Martinez (2000); grandson, Jonathan Martinez (2012); three sisters, Lupe Gutierrez (2004), Tomasa Chavez (2010), and Lucy Garcia (2010); four brothers, Johnny Carmona (1992), Joe Garcia (1993), Gilbert Garcia (2007), and Adan Carmona (2017); son-in-law, Thurman Quahlupe (2001); daughter-in-law, Vanetta Martinez (2002).
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Sandra Quahlupe, Israel Martinez (Alma), Henry “JR” Martinez (Christina), Rose Pico and husband Vince, and Patsy E. Rowell and husband Don; 13 grandchildren, Jon Henry (Ria) Martinez, Alexandra Martinez, Steven (Ashley) Martinez, Jessica Day, Vincent Martinez, Mart “Marty” Prieto, Kyle Martinez, Peter Martinez, Keenan “Max” Martinez, Kanani Pico, Kauiann Martinez, Anela Pico, Makani Pico; 12 great grandchildren, Joseph Martinez Kaupiko, Kaleb Martinez Kaupiko, Zachary Day, Calayla Day, Mason Martinez, Liliane Martinez, Domn Pena, Chris Day, Zaylee Martinez, Jayden Day, Madison Day, and Jathan Martinez; and 3 great-great grandchildren, Anais, Robert, and Kai Martinez; siblings, Connie Carmona, and Andy Garcia; and numerous nieces and nephews that she took care of like her own.
Memorial services are scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Saturday, September 5, 2020 at Living Word of Faith located at 129 Temple Ave. and dinner will follow at 3404 Fordham St.
