Guadalupe (Maldonado) Hernandez, 88, of Lubbock passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2020. She was born October 7, 1931 in Taft, Texas to Domingo and Martina (Garcia) Maldonado. Guadalupe grew up in Taft and married Gumecindo Hernandez on January 7, 1951. Together they shared 67 years before he preceded her in death. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed sewing and frequently made clothes for her children. Guadalupe was a great cook who insisted on feeding everyone who came to her house. She had a stand at the flee market where she not only sold various items, but also met many people. Guadalupe and Gumecindo enjoyed singing in the church choir together for many years.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Ramon Hernandez, Daniel Hernandez and wife, Yolanda, Patricia Guzman, Diana Rangel and husband, Sam, Teresa Hernandez, Ernestina Hernandez, Irene Flores and husband, Greg, Elvira Levine all of Lubbock and Alejandro Hernandez and wife Cindy of Shallowater; stepsister, Lolita Rodriguez of Austin; 28 grandchildren and 67 great-grandchildren.

Guadalupe is preceded in death by her parents, her husband; sons, Gumecindo Hernandez, Jr., Maximo Hernandez, Gilbert Hernandez; and brothers, Victor Maldonado and Domingo Maldonado, Jr.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 27, 2020 at the Combest Family Memorial Chapel from 1-8 PM with Rosary being recited at 6 PM. Mass will be recited on Monday, September 28, 2020 at 2 PM at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with interment to follow at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park.
