Dorthea Virginia Smith, 97 of Lubbock, passed away on Friday, October 2, 2020. She was born April 14, 1923 to D.C. and Katie (King) McMillan in Wichita Falls, Texas. Dorthea was a bookkeeper until retiring in 1990. She then went on to be a hairdresser, retiring again in 2014. She was of the Methodist faith.
Dorthea is survived by her grandchildren, Angila Ginger Chaney (Troy) of Lubbock, Gina Stockman (Bobby) of New Deal, and Derek Smith of Catalina, Arizona; 11 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; children, Catherine Rowena Alexander and Danny T. Smith; siblings, Lottie Belle, Floreine, Clifton and Clayton; and two grandsons, Cody Jackson and Dylan Smith.
Dorthea will be laid to rest at a later date at the Dumont Cemetery in Dumont, Texas.

Gina, my brother Donald said you took such great care of aunt Dorothea when she needed it the most. Thank you so much for that. Although I haven’t seen her for a number of years I’ll never forget her beautiful smile and energy!
She and my dad loved each other so much. I truly believe they are together again.
