Robert Kent Ott, 70, of Lubbock passed from this life into the arms of Jesus on Thursday, October 22, 2020 in Lubbock, Texas. Kent was born on October 10, 1950 in Sweetwater, Texas to Robert Earl Ott and Olivanna Conrad Ott. He was raised in Odessa, Texas and graduated from Wheelus High School in Libya, North Africa in 1969. Kent married the one love of his life, Karen Jeanette Burns, on April 28, 1972
in Odessa. Kent’s oilfield career spanned multiple decades and continents, taking him from Texas to Libya, Saudi Arabia, Russia, and Yemen. Once retired, he backed-the-blue for six years as a Public Service Officer at the Lubbock Police Department.
Kent is survived by his wife, Karen Ott of Lubbock; daughter, Sara Brand and husband, Brian Brand, of Lubbock; son, Jason Ott of Austin, TX; mother, Olivanna Ott of Hattiesburg, MS; two brothers, Dennis Ott of Oakvale, MS and Steven Ott and wife, Sonia Foscoli, of Berkley, CA; and two most beloved grandsons, Chase Brand (and Emily) of Richardson, TX and Chandler Brand (and Grace) of Lubbock. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Ott, and his sister-in-law, Diane Ott.
