Pat Murphy, 85, of Ira, Texas, passed away on Thursday, April 29, 2021. She was born to Homer and Ollie (Sasser) Merriott in Turkey, Texas on December 14, 1935. On October 11, 1960 Pat married Brent Murphy in Stamford, Texas.
Pat received her Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Husbandry, with a Minor in Education from Abilene Christian College. She was the first woman to take agricultural classes where she also did soil and meat judging. After finishing college, Pat became an elementary school teacher, retiring in 2006. Agriculture was a big part of her life. She enjoyed barrel racing, winning the saddle one year in Stamford and has received numerous trophies and buckles over the years from rodeos. Pat collected western art and antiques, and loved singing in church, her dogs and spending time with her grandchildren. Pat was a faithful member of 37th Street Church of Christ.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Brent Murphy; sons, Ben Murphy of Midland and Michael Murphy of Vincent; sister, Linda Gist and husband Forrest of Salado; three grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Judith Prince, and two nephews, Scott Prince and Tucker Gist.
A graveside service is scheduled for Sunday, May 2, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at the Gail Cemetery.

I extend my condolences to the Murphy family. Pat was a very sweet lady and I was blessed to count her as a friend.
