Sandra Jo Taylor, 80, of Dickens, passed away on Monday morning, October 25, 2021. She was born on May 28, 1941, in Dickens County, Texas to the late Thomas Edwin Faulkner and Myrtis Tennessee (Teague) Faulkner.

She met Gene Taylor, the love of her life, and they were married on August 29, 1959, in Spur. Mr. Taylor preceded her in death in June of 2012.

Sandra Jo and her husband operated the Duck Creek Hunting Club in Dickens from 1978 to 1984 and she became licensed to sell firearms in Dickens County. Between 1984 and 1986, she tried her hands at different jobs, being a jack of all trades. In 1986 she went to work for the Dickens County Sheriff’s office as a jailer and dispatcher until 1996. During the time of 1993 to 1998, she owned Taylor’s Horns and Feathers restaurant in Dickens. From 1996 to 2000, she worked at the Dickens County Detention Center in Spur. Following, she worked for and then operated the Germania agency until March 2020 when she retired.

She loved sewing, embroidery, crocheting, gardening, her animals and cooking, in addition to reading murder mysteries and fictional biographies.

Survivors include two daughters, Mitzi Taylor-Joplin and Rebel Taylor of Dickens; three grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Private family services are planned at this time.

The Taylor family requests memorial donations, in Sandra Jo’s memory, be made to the North Dickens County Senior Citizens or the Dickens Volunteer Fire Department.

I will miss our conversations, as she was the closest thing I have left on this planet to mother after my mom passed in 2014. She was a West Texas woman through and through a hardened exterior with A heart of gold way down deep. I wanna think Sandra Joe for all her love in guidance over the years. I love you and I will miss you.
