Ken Wilde, 71, of Lubbock, passed away on Wednesday morning, October 27, 2021. He was born in Gainesville, Texas on January 19, 1950, to the late Red Bond and Mary Ruth Gilbert.

Mr. Wilde graduated from high school in Gainesville, Texas in 1968. He attended Abilene Christian University. He moved with his family to Lubbock to attend the Sunset School of Preaching from 1986 to 1988. Mr. Wilde served as a pulpit minister for numerous Church of Christ congregations throughout his career. He was an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Navy.

Mr. Wilde met Doris Miller, the love of his life, and they were married on August 6, 1971 in Collinsville, Texas.

He loved to run marathons and ran in the famous Boston Marathon at one time. In addition to hiking at Pikes Peak, he enjoyed motorcycles. He was a member of Sunset Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Doris; three sons, Bobby Anderson of Thackerville, Oklahoma, Forrest and Phillip Wilde, both of Lubbock and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Peggy Wilde.

Private family services will be held at a later date.

In Ken’s memory, the family requests memorial donations to the Sunset School of Preaching (Sunset International Bible Institute), 3723 34th Street, Lubbock TX 79410.
