I am a Veteran.Charles Ira Kenny Guestbook

Cary Allen

26 years ago, I was just a young kid enjoying a career in radio. TV was yet to come in future years. I was working at Z102 and KFYO working overnight shifts and producing Jack Dale's Sportstalk Show.

Our engineer at KFYO and KZII (Z-102) was a man we all knew as "Chuck" Kenny. His office was in the southwest corner of the building. He had all kinds of neat equipment in there and he could fix just about anything.

More than that, he was the nicest man in the entire building. I would often go back there at the end of my shift and we would talk about how important our families were. My grandfather passed away in 1995 and he was one of the individuals that really visited with me after that happened.

He would tell me that he learned a long time ago not to worry about life. He simply said, you should enjoy life to the fullest and never take a day for granted. He also would tell me that things have a way of working itself out in the end.

He would smile and you would walk away feeling much happier than you were before you walked into his office.

He once learned that I had a shortwave radio from my grandfather and he offered to fix it up for free. He was interested in all types of radio receivers.

To a man who had a heart of gold and a genuinely kind spirit...RIP Chuck Kenny. You won't be forgotten.
