Larry Dorsett of Lubbock departed this life on Monday, March 28, 2011 at the age of 83. He was born December 15, 1927 in Lubbock to Jesse and Pluma Dorsett. He graduated from Lubbock High School and worked for the US Post Office, retiring in 1982. Larry married Ruby Louise Williamson November 10, 1948 in Buchannon, GA. He received his BA in Music from Texas Tech University. Larry was an accomplished pianist and taught piano lessons. He played at Lubbock Country Club, Furr's, rodeos, numerous weddings and other occasions. Larry was a member of Trinity Church in Lubbock. He served in the Army during the Korean War.

Larry's memory will be cherished by two daughters, Beverly Louise Dawson and Sandra Kay Ruiz and husband Martin both of Lubbock; three sons, Tommy Eugene Dorsett and wife Marsha, Frankie Lee Dorsett, and Terry Don Dorsett, all of Lubbock; one sister, Ernestine Griffith of Mesa, AZ; 14 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise November12, 2008, one grandson, one nephew, three brothers, and two sisters.

Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at Combest Family Funeral Homes. Celebration of Life Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 31, 2011 at Combest Family Memorial Chapel in Lubbock. Interment will follow at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park in Woodrow, TX.

I worked with Larry for many years and could always rely on him to do a good job. I hope some of the family has his outstanding talent and Work ethnic.

I remember many years ago going to Trinity church with the Dorsett's. Mainly my friends Beverly and Frankie who I have missed for many years. I am sorry about the loss of your father and hope you stay strong remembering the good times. God Bless you all.
