Kenneth Gail Kendrick of Lubbock passed away on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at the age of 79. He was born December 25, 1938 in Russellville, Arkansas to the late Euel Haney and Rheba Grace (Jackson) Kendrick. Kenneth enlisted in the United States Army on November 4, 1956 where he served for 20 years. He spent 11 years in Germany, seven in the United States and two years in Vietnam. Some of his awards and decorations include the Combat Medical Badge, Bronze Star with the Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Commendation Medal with the Oak Leaf Cluster, Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal with Five Knots, National Defense Medal, Vietnam Defense Medal and Vietnam Service Medal.

After retiring from the Army, Kenneth worked for Covenant Medical Center. On December 12, 1987 he married Bonnie Ann Hays in Smyer, Texas.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Bonnie of Lubbock; step-daughters, Mary Stewart and husband Chris of Ponder, Texas, Robin Barker and husband Alan, of Lubbock, and Tonya Nance, of Littlefield; sister, Linda Galbreath of Rockport, Texas; four grandchildren, Jake Stewart, Monica Stewart, Hunter Edwards, and Robert Barcheers; and two great-grandchildren, Collin and Connor Edwards.

Kenneth is preceded in death by his parents; five siblings; and one step-son, John Nance.

Visitation will be 9:00 am - 8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 3, 2018 at Combest Family Funeral Homes. Private Military services will be held on Friday, May 4, 2018 at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park Mausoleum.

I am sorry to hear of your loss, Bonnie and family. Ken was such as sweet, kind hearted man. I thoroughly enjoyed him and so glad I had the honor of knowing him. May he rest in peace and God Bless the family.
