Raymond Wallace (Ray or R. W.) New, of Houston passed away on Sunday morning, November 25, 2018. He was born on June 20, 1944 to Elmer and Veta Mae New in Ralls, Texas. Ray spent most of his childhood in Morton, TX and Martha, OK. In 1962, he and his parents moved to Tahoka, TX. On August 29, 1964, he married Sheryl Anne Nevill in Tahoka. They moved to Houston on January 1, 1967. He was a senior technician for NCR for 6 years, and at Xerox Corporation for 32 years, retiring in 2005. He was a devoted Christian husband, father, and friend, who was adored by his family and loved by all who met him.

Ray had a brilliant mind and could design, build, or repair anything. He enjoyed NASCAR, golf, reading, Bible study, travel, the company of good friends, and delighted in playing music on his mandolin and guitar, alongside his wife, Sheryl.

Preceded in death by his parents; Elmer New and Veta Mae New, Ray is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Sheryl, daughters Shelley DeLise Bates, Laurel Amber New, and Layce Autumn New.

According to Ray's wishes, a celebration of his life will be held on Friday, November 30, 2018, at the First Baptist Church, Tahoka, TX at 2:00 pm, with family receiving friends following the service. Interment will follow at the Tahoka Cemetery.

There are no words to express the loss you feel when a good friend dies. Prayers for the family as you return to your everyday normal, knowing that "normal" will be without someone you have loved your entire life. Praying that you will continue to cherish the memories you have hidden in your hearts.
