James "Jim" Ogle

James "Jim" Ogle was born May 13, 1940 in Fort Worth, Texas to Essie and Claude Ogle. There he attended Fort Worth Poly Tech High School. Jim went on to serve honorably in the United States Navy aboard a destroyer, the USS Stoddard. On April 12, 1963 Jim married his sweetheart, Irene McPherson. Soon after they moved to Howe, Texas where he and Irene lived and raised their family for 43 years. Jim managed Cottingham Bearing Co. for over 15 years at the Sherman location. Along with Irene, Jim later opened Westridge Industrial Supply in Howe. Here he designed, invented, and installed electronic control panels.

Jim was very active in his community, He served on the city council and as president of the Chamber of Commerce. He also devoted many hours to coaching his kids in different sports, building and maintaining the athletic facilities they used. Jim was a very social person. He loved to tell and hear a good joke. Rarely did you see him without a pleasant smile on his face.

Jim and Irene moved to Lubbock, Texas in 2003 and then to Shallowater, Texas in 2013 to be closer to their kids and grandchildren.

Jim passed from this life on Wednesday, February 6, 2019.

He is survived by his wife of almost 56 years, Irene; one daughter, Tamra Ogle; three sons, Robert Ogle and his wife Lori, Stephen Ogle and his wife Jennifer, Doug Ogle and his wife Farrah; ten grandchildren, Ashlie Enar-Ruth, Raelin Randall, Jacob Ogle, Carson Ogle, Cooper Ogle, Jaden Gorby, Sunny Ogle, Sam Ogle, Will Ogle and Katie Jo Ogle; four great grandchildren, Mikya and Cyri Gurley, Sophia and Daniel Randall.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 9, 2019 at Combest Family Memorial Chapel. Jim will be buried in Howe, Texas at a private family gathering.

This world dimmed just a little the day we lost Mr. Ogle.
I reflect on my first meeting of Mr. Ogle, I was a college student having come to meet a new, good friend's family.
The first notion that comes to mind is how genuine and nice and welcoming he was to his house.
There couldn't be finer example of a father.
Please know The Gifford's thoughts and prayers are with you all during your time of grief.

I will miss him dearly he was such a great influence in my younger years especially during the times he coached me and Bubba in little league baseball.my prayers be with y’all in your loss.
