Edwin D. Wimberley was born in Brownfield, Texas on January 24, 1935. He passed from this life September 8, 2019, at his home in Lubbock, Texas. He was a faithful member of the Church of Christ. His father was a cotton farmer, so the family moved several times. He went to high school in Whitharral, Pettit, and Littlefield where he graduated in 1953. He was a farm hand for a while. In 1957 he was drafted by the Army and served in Korea in 1958 & 1959 in the Occupational Forces and was honorably discharged in 1959. On October 17, 1959, he married Verna Jean Prentice and they lived in Littlefield until September of 1968, where he learned the appliance service business. In September 1968, they move to Levelland where he opened Ed’s Appliance Center. By 1978 he had closed the retail store and moved his service business to a shop behind their home on Dogwood Lane. He was an appliance service man for 50 years until September of 2017, when he was diagnosed with cancer. Many of his customers lovingly called him “The Maytag Man”!

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Wimberley on September 10, 1989. He married Kathy Hagins December 26, 1992.

Besides his wife Jean, he was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Thelma Trigg Wimberley; 2 brothers, J.O. and Alton; 1 sister Alicia Pikayvit. He is survived by his wife, Kathy; one son, Eddie, of Lubbock; one grandson, Sam Wimberley of Lubbock; two step-children Nicki Strickland and husband, Jim, of Tahoka; Jeff Hagins and wife, Kristin, of Lubbock; one brother, Lewis, of Alabama and one sister, Iva Nell Stinson and husband, Tom, of Snyder; two sisters-in-law, Elaine Faircloth and husband, Bill, of Sanford, NC; and Latricia Thomason of Lovington, NM. He has 9 step grandchildren plus two great-granddaughters and one great-grandson.

Interment was in Littlefield Memorial Cemetery at a private family gathering. A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, September 12, 2019 at Austin Street Church of Christ, 510 Austin St, Levelland, TX 79336.

Eddie Carl and family... Ed was loved by so many and will be missed. He always gave more than he ever ask from anyone which shared his life path. I am blessed with knowing Ed and having all of my memories of him. May God's loving hands comfort and bring each of you peace in knowing he is in heaven.

He was the best person that I have ever known, my grandparents always called him when they needed any appliances fixed, my grandpa J.R. Hartis always w lcomed into his home, for me serving him as a Walmart employee to him as a customer, Ed will be missed
