Santos Ortiz Lara of Lubbock passed away on Saturday, November 23, 2019 at the age of 87. She was born November 1, 1932 in Lockhart, Texas to Julio and Santos (Trevino) Ortiz. Santos was a devoted mother who raised her family in a Christian home. She married Guadalupe Lara in 1953 and they were members of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Those left to cherish her memory are her seven children, MaryAlice Otero and husband Robert of Garland, Lupe Lara, Jr. of Lubbock, John Lara and wife Nita of Wylie, Joe Lara and wife Jamie of Lubbock, Gilbert Lara of Dallas, Sylvia Alvizo of Lubbock and Stephen Lara of Lubbock; brother, Lupe Ortiz and wife Sylvia of Lubbock; 24 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.

Santos was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 1997; and her twin sister, Janie Franco.

Visitation will be 12:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 27, 2019 and 9:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m. Friday, November 29, 2019 at Venue on Broadway, 2202 Broadway. Rosary will be cited on Friday at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 30, 2019 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with interment to follow at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park.

I'm gonna miss you so much grandma!! 😥I will carry you with me forever..I'm gonna miss your smile, the way you use to make me laugh .I thank god for allowing us to celebrate your birthday with you..you looked so beautiful in pink 😊 I wasn't ready to let you go, but god had other plans for you. Thank you for always being you. You were the light of the party but now you can dance up in heaven along with our other angels..your no longer in pain..your in a better place grandma..rest in paradise.. till me meet again save me a spot in heaven..😘😥🙏
