Santos H. Salinas of Abernathy was born April 15, 1938 in La Villa, Texas to Rosario and Anita Hernandez. She passed away on Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at the age of 81. Visitation will be 1:00-8:00 p.m. Saturday, November 30, 2019 and Sunday, December 1, 2019 at Venue on Broadway, 2202 Broadway in Lubbock. Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 2, 2019 at Venue on Broadway with interment to follow at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park.

She met Ernesto D. Salinas, Sr. in Moody, Texas and married in Belton, Texas on September 24, 1959. Santos was known as Grandma to not only her grandchildren, but by everyone who met her. She enjoyed spending her time outside listening to her Christian music, chatting with the family on the porch and tending to her garden and flowers. She will be truly missed. Her favorite verse was Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

Santos was preceded in death by her parents and two siblings, Carmen Cerda and Juan Hernandez, Sr.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Ernesto D. Salinas, Sr.; children, Juanita Garcia (Adam), Guadalupe Salinas, Sr., Racel Trevino (David), Martha Salinas (Tony), Ernest D. Salinas, Jr. (Maria), Anita Jones (Stephen), Leticia Trevino (Armando), Daniel Salinas, Orlando Salinas (Willie), and David Salinas. She also leaves behind 21 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Santos is also survived by her sisters Martina Hernandez, Josefa De La Cruz, Juanita Plasencio, and Hermalinda Ortiz; brothers, Rosario Hernandez, Jr., Reynaldo Hernandez, Rodolfo Hernandez, and Rene Hernandez.
