  • Guestbook
Larry Kenneth Kennedy began his journey in God’s Kingdom on December 20th, 2019. Larry was born on May 1st, 1943 in Lubbock. He attended Lubbock High School and completed a Machinist course at LCU. Larry married his sweetheart, Faye on August 8th, 1964 in Lubbock TX. They enjoyed their adventurous marriage for over 55 years.

Larry began his life as one of five brothers. He was the third, only by minutes, as he has a twin brother. Being born and raised in Lubbock, the brothers leaned on each other through thick and thin. While working at Dairy Queen, he met his future love, Faye, in 1961. After their marriage in 1964, they were blessed with their only child, Kenny, in 1965. Larry and Faye built a full life together without any regrets.

Larry loved the lake, his family and friends. He loved fishing and the story telling that came with it. He enjoyed hunting and camping, especially deer hunting. Larry was always at the center of gatherings, and family fellowships. He made friends that became family and have remained a part of his life. Larry worked as a Machinist the majority of his adult life. Working for the Department of Defense from 1981 until he retired in 2003. Larry was the President of the Machinist Union for Federal Workers. He worked tirelessly for the employees and took great pride in what he accomplished for their betterment. His retirement opened the door for him to become a bus driver for Frenship ISD. This allowed him to interact and interject his colorful insights, with the energetic students. Larry loved his five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren and enjoyed every minute with them. Larry had his own special relationship with his savior Jesus. He loved old gospel hymns, especially by Elvis, and entertained us with a "joyful noise". He enjoyed going on many adventurous trips with his Bride. Larry and Faye enjoyed the sights and sounds of every destination, but above all they enjoyed just being together.

Larry was preceded in death by his Father, A.D. Kennedy in 1966, his Mother, Ann Adamson in 2008, and his brother, David Kennedy.

He is survived by his wife Faye Kennedy, son: Kenny Kennedy and wife Dorothy of Lubbock, Three Brothers: Jerry Kennedy of Lubbock, Don Kennedy and wife Pat of Fort Worth, and Joe Kennedy and wife Vicki of Lubbock, Several nieces and nephews, Larry was blessed with five grandchildren; Michael Kennedy and wife Sara, Ryan Kennedy and wife Tiffany, Garrett Kennedy and wife Kamber, Brady Kennedy, and Reagan Kennedy all of Lubbock. Seven great-grandchildren; Gracie, Rayleigh, Swayze, Presley, Jolee, Knox, and Griffin
