Bertha “Penney” Anzaldua of Plainview passed away on Friday, January 10, 2020 at the age of 52. She was born June 7, 1967 in Plainview to Pedro and Natalia (Renteria) Anzaldua. Penney grew up in Plainview and was known as a tom-boy. She loved playing outside on the farm, football with the neighborhood boys, and was a Daddy’s Girl. She graduated from Plainview High School and went on to receive her Associate Degree in Business from Wayland University. Penney worked for the Cargill/Excell Beef Plant for more than 15 years. In 2007, Penney was diagnosed with Lupus. While this caused her to quit her job, she became an active member of the Lupus Foundation and often made keychains to help raise fund and awareness of the disease.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Jesse Garcia; sons, Paul Anthony Rodriguez of Lubbock, Tomas Antonio Rodriguez of Amarillo, and Daniel Israel Flores of Lubbock; three brothers; four sisters; and two precious granddaughters whom she adored, Avianna Janelle Rodriguez and Emmalee Cyann Rodriguez. Penney also leaves behind her two dogs, Gigi and Bella.

Penny was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.

Services are pending at this time.
