Richard Dan Pruitt, 81 of Idalou passed away Monday, January 13, 2020. He was born January 1, 1939 to W.F., Jr. and Estelle (Turner) Pruitt in Idalou at his grandparents’ house on the farm. Richard married Carole (Hart)Pruitt July 7, 1962 in San Angelo. He worked in banking for 35 years with Idalou State Bank and First United Bank in Lubbock. Richard was a sports enthusiast and had a passion for water skiing and volleyball. He played an active roll in teaching many Idalou youth how to water ski. Richard was a member of First Baptist Church in Idalou.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 57 years, Carole of Idalou; children, Jim Pruitt of Montgomery, Texas, Kim Pruitt Wilson and husband Donte of Arlington; sister-in-law, Rhonda Pruitt of Lubbock; nephew, Michael Pruitt of Lubbock; niece, Tiffany Pruitt Smith of Lubbock; three grandchildren, Olivia Pruitt, Ben Pruitt, and Jaden Wilson.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Randy Pruitt and Steve Pruitt.
A memorial will be held at a later date.
The family would like to say a special thank you to the doctors and nurses at the UMC Critical Care Unit East Tower and the third floor West Tower. Also, to Calvert Home Health and Hospice of Lubbock for their continued care for Richard.
