Charles “Papa” Hudson, 73 of Lubbock passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2020. He was born November 7, 1946 to Charles Hood and June (Underwood) Hudson in Lubbock. Charles married Genice Hudson December 28, 1995 in Lubbock. He operated a donut shop for more than 42 years. Charles loved fishing, gardening, his friends and was always bragging about his family. He especially loved his grandchildren. Charles was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 24 years, Genice; children, Jenifer Hernandez of Lubbock, Amy Poyner of Wolfforth, John Swalley and wife Amanda of Huntsville, Alabama; siblings, Sue Hart and husband Bill of Austin, Rick Hudson and wife Janet of San Antonio; seven grandchildren, Cheyenne Trotter and spouse Tyson, Justin Poyner, Jimmy Poyner, Connor Poyner, Slade Swalley, Addi Swalley, Lincoln Swalley; and three great-grandchildren, Easton, Declan, Delilah.

He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Shirley, Toni; and one brother, Robert.

Visitation will be from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. Sunday, February 9, 2020 at the Venue on Broadway. Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 10, 2020 at the Venue on Broadway with burial to follow at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park.
