Marshall Eugene Barton, 83, of O'Donnell, TX, passed away on Friday May 8th, 2020 due to complications from Alzheimer’s. He was born to parents Theo and Janie Barton, on May 2nd, 1937 in Knox City, TX. His family later migrated to O’Donnell in the early 1940’s where he worked as a farmer for over 70 years.

His passion was the family farm where he grew up and later raised his own family. He loved nature and being in wide open spaces. One of his greatest pleasures in life was feeding and caring for ALL animals; domestic, wild, and livestock. Marshall was involved in all agricultural 4-H programs for many years. He was named Lynn County 4-H leader of the year for his dedication in serving the youth of Lynn County. He has always had many roles in the O'Donnell Rodeo and served as President for 30+ years.

Marshall and Cathie were married on May 29, 1972 in Lubbock, TX.

Marshall is survived by his wife of 48 years, Cathie Jeter Barton and 3 daughters; Tandy Riddle, Marsha Barton, and Brandi Sitter. As well as, 3 grandsons, 2 granddaughters and 5 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by both parents, his sister Doris Gailey, and two granddaughters Shondy Gardenhire, and Jourdain Barton-Reeves.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Cecil Kizer, Slaton Harris, Ty Askew, Travis Miers, Corey Gass, Rex Drennan, Alan Drennan, & Ty Williams.

The family has entrusted Combest Family Funeral Home with the arrangements. Visitation and viewing are scheduled between 11:00 -1:00 Tuesday May 12th. The graveside service will be held immediately after viewing at the O’Donnell cemetery. Paul Chambers, Marshall’s cousin will officiate the service.

We deeply appreciate your kind expression of sympathy in our time of great sorrow. Thank you for keeping us in your thoughts and prayers.
