Dorothy Lucille Richburg, 79, of Lubbock passed away on Thursday, July 23, 2020 in Lubbock. She was born on April 14, 1941 in Lynn, Mississippi to Albert Burk Welch and Grace Mariene James Welch. When she was younger, she had been a belly dancer, owned a boutique, and loved fashion. She had married Jerry W. Richburg in 1986 in Las Vegas, Nevada. She loved her job at Durham School Services and Transportation and had worked there as school bus driver for many years. She loved all her “babies” on her bus and co-workers were like her family. She was a strong, outspoken, full of life woman that had a huge loving heart. She enjoyed having everyone over, and especially going all out during Christmas. She was known to chase anyone down that was acting up in her home with her wooden spoon. She was a devout Christian that loved her family and friends and had attended Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Lubbock.

Dorothy is survived by her 3 sons, David Dockter and wife, Cindy, of Coleman, Paul Dockter and wife, Dawn, of Wellington, and Richard Dockter and Betty, of Lubbock, 1 brother, Clyde Welch of Orange, 5 grandchildren, Adam Dockter, Jamie Myers, Daniel Dockter, Lauren Dockter, and Ali Dockter, and 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband on May 20, 1994, her parents, and 3 siblings, Connie Hock, Helen Dill, and Billy Mack Welch.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life at 10:00 AM Monday, July 27, 2020 at Combest Family Memorial Chapel, 2210 Broadway, in Lubbock. Graveside services will be at 3:00 PM Monday at Lone Wolf Cemetery in Hermleigh. Visitation will be on Sunday at the funeral home from 2 – 6 PM. I have wonderful memories of Dorothy. She became a part of the Richburg’s immediately. She and Jerry most gracious when I went back to college in Lubbock. Was loving, kind and loved her boys!
