Adelita S. Calzadias a beloved wife and mother of Lubbock passed away on Friday, September 11, 2020 at the age of 70. She was born February 7, 1950 in Pharr, Texas to Joaquin and Clemencia (Villarreal) Sauceda. At a young age, Adelita had a passion for education. She studied at Pan Am University in Edinburg. When she was 15 years old, she became a member of the Jehovah Witnesses where she deepened her knowledge. She was a faith-based woman who spent hours teaching her children and grandchildren not only the value of others, but the value of their faith and the eternal life. She cared deeply for everyone she came in contact with. On September 21, 1971, she married Tomas Calzadias in Edinburg, Texas. Together they raised three boys whom she adored and instilled in them the value of work, love and family.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of almost 49 years, Tomas; children, Thomas Emmanuel (Patricia Ybarra) Calzadias, Mark Anthony (Martha) Calzadias, and Michael Ray Calzadias, all of Lubbock; sisters, Irene Jackson, Angelita Torres, Margarita Arispe, and Esther Trevino; nine grandchildren, Cassandra Adelita, Thomas Messiah, Antonio Rey, Ethan Nicolas, Miliani Amor, Mark Anthony, Jr., RaeAnna Michelle, Masiela Raiza, and Mikhail Ray; and three great-grandchildren, Gabriel Messiah, Raelynn Eliah, and Azais Noel.
Adelita was preceded in death by her parents and five siblings.
A come-and-go visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 17, 2020 at Combest Family Memorial Chapel, lasting until 8:00 p.m. Rosary will be cited at 6:30 p.m. Services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 18, 2020 at Combest Family Memorial Chapel with interment to follow at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Thomas M. Calzadias, Antonio R. Calzadias, Ethan N. Calzadias, Mark A. Calzadias, Jr., Eli Galvan, and Saul Hernandez. Her husband, Tomas, will serve as an honorary pallbearer. Services will be livestreamed on the website.
According to local and state guidelines, face masks will be required for visitation and services.
