Mary S. Deleon of Tahoka passed away on Saturday, October 31, 2020 at the age of 84. She was born May 7, 1936 in Karnes City, Texas. As a young child, the family migrated to the Lynn County area where she grew up in O’Donnell and Grassland. Later in life she moved to California to begin new adventures but returned “home” more than 40 years ago. Mary worked as a caregiver at the nursing home, as well as privately and found she had a passion for the elderly. She continued that enthusiasm which lead her to Spartan Community Action. This allowed her to have daily interaction and serve those in need.
Mary had a servant heart and the ability to laugh, smile and joke put those around her at ease. She enjoyed dancing and spending time with her family. She will be truly missed.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Ramiro Rodriguez and wife Michelle and Danny Deleon, all of Tahoka; three granddaughters, Kristyn, D’Nae and Breklyn; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Andrea Salinas and Gloria Deleon.
Due to the current pandemic, memorial services will be scheduled at a later date. Memorial donations can be made in Mary’s name to the Slaton Care Center.
