David Brent Adkins of Lubbock passed away on Saturday, October 31, 2020 at the age of 50. He was born March 18, 1970 in Lubbock to David Clark and Delva (Branch) Adkins. Brent developed the love of music from a very young age, instilled in him by his “Big Mama Adkins” who would sit him on the kitchen table and would play guitar while singing to him when he was just a babe. The moment he picked up his first guitar, it became his life. A gifted and talented musician, he played in various churches and was in the praise and worship team at Rock City Church. He was a huge part of the music scene here in Lubbock and throughout West Texas, playing in various bands of different genres. On April 1, 2000 he married Dolly Hernandez. The two of them became inseparable and shared a wonderful life together.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Dalia; mother, Delva Robb of Lubbock; children, Felicia Palacio and husband Gabriel of Denton, Alfredo Gonzales, Dominique Gonzales, Rex Gonzales and wife Erica, Frankie Hernandez, and Jade Melton and husband Jason, all of Lubbock; brothers, Brandon Adkins and Matthew Robb; and 12 grandchildren.

Brent was preceded in death by his father.

Visitation will take place at Rock City Church on Thursday, November 12, 2020 from 11:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. with the family receiving friends 6:00-8:00 p.m. Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 13, 2020 at Rock City Church with interment to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Prayers and uplifting to you and your family. I loved Brent like a brother the trips we would take to gigs and staying after the shows till the sun came up sometimes talking about music, family, and god. No matter where we played he would always wanna drive back even if it was all night to play at church. He would talk to me about his wonderful wife he called her his angel on earth, his kids which he was so proud of and his whole family. We would laugh and joke about life and past memmories of those we love. I will forever have a peice of my buddy Brent in my heart. Miss ya old man.

One of the most talented people we’ve ever known but The Righteous Brothers said it the best, If you believe in forever. Then life is just a one night stand. If there’s a rock and roll heaven, Well you know they’ve got a hell of a band . We love you Brent Adkins. Until we meet again! RIP our Dear Brother!
