Ramona Victoria Lopez, known as “Mona” to all who knew her, passed away on Thursday, November 5, 2020 in Lubbock. Mona was born on November 2, 1950 to Mayheldo Hernandez, Sr. and Josie Garcia Hernandez. She graduated from Frenship High School and loved playing softball in early adulthood. She met the love of her life, Sammy Lopez, in 1997; and they were married on January 29, 1999 in Lubbock. She worked as a MICU unit clerk at St. Mary’s Hospital-Covenant Medical Lakeside, where she met many friends and favorite people. She retired in 2014 after 35 years of service. She treasured her grandchildren, and they loved her to pieces. She was a very devoted wife and mother. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Lubbock and had been a Sunday School teacher. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, grandson, and son, Frankie Rodriquez.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Sammy Lopez, 1 son, Logan Ochoa and wife, Vanessa, 3 daughters, Crystal Lopez and wife, Miranda, Andrea Lopez, and Nicole Lopez, stepdaughter, Priscilla Lara, 9 grandsons, 5 granddaughters, 3 great grandchildren, 1 sister, Stella Martinez, 3 brothers, Robert Hernandez, Jose Hernandez, and Mayheldo Hernandez, Jr., as well as a host of cherished family and friends.

Due to COVID restrictions, face masks and social distancing will be required. Mass will be celebrated by the family only at 10:00 AM Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1120 52nd Street, in Lubbock. Interment will follow in the City of Lubbock Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12 – 8 PM on Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at the Venue on Broadway, 2202 Broadway, in Lubbock and Rosary services will be recited at 6 PM at the Venue on Broadway.
