Chavela Aguilar, 93, of Lubbock passed away on Monday, February 8, 2021. Chavela was born November 20, 1927 in Cameron, Texas to Ramon and Antonia (Fuentes) Hernandez. Chavela married Frank Aguilar on September 5, 1949 in Clovis, New Mexico. The couple then made their home in Lubbock and one of their favorite past times was traveling in their RV. Chavela was a very spiritual woman who faithfully read her bible. She always put others first, had a servant’s heart, and was caring and generous to all. She was a mother figure, a hostess, and she watched over all her family and her friends. Chavela was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church.

Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Robert Aguilar of Lubbock and Arthur Aguilar and wife Rebecca of Plainview; grandchildren, Erika, Lauren, and Robert, Jr; and sisters, Carmen Ysasaga and Bridgita Garcia.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank; and brother, Tino Hernandez.

A come-and-go visitation will begin at noon, Monday February 15, 2021 at Venue on Broadway, 2202 Broadway with rosary being cited at 6:00 p.m. Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park.
