Joseph Cecil Ward, 68 of Lubbock passed away Tuesday, February 9, 2021. He was born October 4, 1952 in Mineral Point, Missouri to Alfred Cecil and Melvia (Martin) Ward. Joseph married Kathy Diane Ward December 24, 1969 in St. Louis. He enlisted in the US. Air Force on August 3, 1972 as an Aircraft Maintenance Specialist. He served during the 1st Gulf War and received multiple medals, including the Air Force Commendation Medal with 3 bronze Oak Leaf Clusters, Air Force Achievement Medal, and a National Defense Medal as well as several others. Joseph retired from the U.S Air Force in 1993. He enjoyed motorcycle racing, RV camping, traveling and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. He will be deeply missed.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 51 years, Kathy; his children, Angela Means, Christopher Ward both of Ropesville, Stephen Ward of Lubbock; siblings, Gary Ward of St. Clair, Missouri, Anita Kane, Nancy McMahan of Owensville, Missouri, Lucy Hedrick of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, Sandra Kuntz of Memphis, Tennessee, Robert Ward of Ropesville; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Melvina.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at Ropes Cemetery in Ropesville with Donovan Martin officiating.
