Chad was full of life and kept his family on their toes. He lived on the edge and was always determined to do what he had put his mind to. People remember Chad for his charismatic and welcoming smile. Chad loved fishing, spending time with his friends, and polishing up his truck. He never met a stranger.
Those left to cherish his memory are his parents, Melanie Rice and husband, David of Amarillo and Kevin Wieland of Lubbock; siblings, Kyle Wieland of Lubbock, Whitney Green and husband Wade of Hudson, Wisconsin, Lara Rice, John David Rice and Lana Rice, all of Amarillo; fiancé, Morgan Conley of Lubbock and their unborn child; and grandparents, Bob Coleman of Burnet, and Wayne and Letha Rice of Plainview. Chad also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends.
Chad was preceded in death by his grandparents, Willa Coleman and James and Carolyn Wieland; his sister, Haylee Wieland; and his nephew, Simcha Green.
The family will be receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at the Venue on Broadway, 2202 Broadway Street Lubbock, Texas 79401. Graveside services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at the Kress Cemetery.

Kevin, our hearts are deeply saddened for the loss of your son Chad. There is no words for what you and your family and Chad’s friends are going through at this moment. I am here for you brother. Always have been and always will be. Until the time comes when I can hug you, here is my silent prayer. Dear Heavenly Father, Mollie and I offer this prayer to you to lift this burden of grief from my friend, my brother, Kevin’s heart. Shine your eternal light onto his soul and let him feel the joy of your love. Guide him with your wisdom, so he may understand your plan. Let him lean upon your strength so he may grow strong once more and emerge from his loss with a renewed spirit of love and hope. Amen.
