Sophia Narbaez, 85, of Lubbock, passed away on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at the Garrison Geriatric Education and Care Center.
Ms. Narbaez was born on July 30, 1935 in Hondo, Medina County, Texas to the late Jose Alcorta and Juanita (Huerta) Alcorta.
She married Manuel Moreno on January 19, 1953 in Lubbock and he preceded her in death on November 19, 1980.
She was a homemaker and loved reading her bible verses, working in her garden planting flowers and just being outdoors. She was very family oriented and a faithful Catholic, being a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Lubbock.
Those left to cherish her memory are five daughters, Gloria Trujillo and her husband Frank of Slaton, Sabrina Perez and her husband Raul of Big Spring, Melissa Torres and her husband Marcello of Slaton, Diane Moreno of Lubbock and Jackie Moreno of Dallas; two sons, Manuel Moreno and his wife Elaine of Big Spring and Frank Moreno and his wife Lou of Grand Island, Nebraska; one brother, Manuel Alcorta of Slaton; three sisters, Hortensia Botello of Slaton, Ava Ambriz and her husband Abel of Sunland, New Mexico and Lydia Ambriz of Slaton; 35 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one daughter, Blanche Burley, one sister, Hermilla Villereal, and three brothers, Ben Alcorta, Jose Alcorta and Johnny Alcorta.
A Memorial Mass for Ms. Narbaez will be celebrated at 10 AM on Thursday, April 15, 2021 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Lubbock. Following the church service, there will be a reception at the Slaton Park Club House in Slaton, Texas.
