Viola Shannon, 95, of Lubbock, passed away on Tuesday morning, April 13, 2021, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on June 23, 1925, in Lockhart, Caldwell County, Texas to the late A. B. Shannon and Minnie Pearl (Sneed) Shannon.
Ms. Shannon served as the housekeeping supervisor for the Crosbyton Hospital for over 20 years, retiring in 1993. She loved cooking, canning, and playing bingo. She was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving Ms. Shannon include her children, Bryan Williams of Lubbock, Alma Shannon of Lubbock, Linda Sparks of Austin, Pauline Williams of Dallas and Barbara Williams of Austin; her siblings, Amanda Brown of Killeen, Johnnie Ruth Brown of Lockhart and Billie Nixon of Lockhart; 17 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two daughters, Dorothy Williams and Maxine Washington, one son, Samuel Shannon; five brothers, Sylvester Shannon, Ben Shannon, Edward Shannon, Vernon Shannon and B. C. Shannon; two sisters Bernice Cubit and Ethel Walker.
Memorial Services for Ms. Shannon will be held on Friday, April 16, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the Combest Family Memorial Chapel with Chaplain Flora Kynard officiating.
