Francene Broun, 78, passed away April 15, 2021 surrounded by loved ones. She was born on February 27, 1943. She was an excellent homemaker and was passionate about cooking, baking, gardening, and helping others. She fostered children, took-in those in need without hesitation and would give the last dollar she had, being generous to a fault. No matter what challenge or struggle life threw at her, she managed to remain resilient and optimistic.

Francene was a loving wife, tireless and patient mother, deeply devoted grandmother, loyal sister, and trusted friend to all that knew her. She truly believed family was the most important thing in life.

Being a magnetic welcoming soul, she never met a stranger. She genuinely cared about others and always saw the best in everyone. Having a great imagination and creative mind, contributed to her being the absolute best storyteller. She truly was the sunshine in our lives. We are so blessed and grateful she got to shine her light on all who knew her.

Francene is survived by her husband of 56 years, Bobby Broun; three daughters, Jeannie Davis of Plano, Vicki Walker of Hobbs, and Kimberly Tibbets of Lubbock; one son, Doyle Broun of Conroe; one sister, Anna Ketchum of Lubbock; eleven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by five siblings; one granddaughter; one son-in-law; and one daughter-in-law.

She was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all. A memorial service will be held at Combest Family Funeral Homes on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at 10:00 a.m.

I have not seen Francene for many years, but I remember her loving kindness toward me back in the day when Kim and I were a couple of crazy young girls running around Lubbock. I was struck by what a sweet mom and grandma she was and wished she was my mom. God bless you Francene for making me always feel welcome. God Bless you Kim and family and give you peace.
Love, Denise Cate

We are so very sorry for your loss. Francene was one of a kind and had a smile that lit up the room. I will remember her fondly and know that she was the kind of grandma that I aspire to be. Her eyes twinkled when she talked about her grandchildren and the love she had for her family was obvious to everyone. She had a great sense of humor and was a joy to be around. Prayers for you all for comfort and peace.
