Kyle Barrett, 71, of Lubbock, passed away on Thursday evening, April 29, 2021 at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock.
Mr. Barrett was born in Lubbock on February 16, 1950 to the late Doyce Neil Barrett and Dortha Nell (Dawkins) Barrett.
He graduated from Hobbs High School, in Hobbs, New Mexico. After graduation from high school, he attended Hobbs Community College before returning to Lubbock and attending Texas Tech University for two years.
Mr. Barrett was a certified welder, building and erecting steel tanks all over the world for Washam Construction Company. He owned and operated Coyote Construction Company in Lubbock for approximately 10 years, before becoming a truck driver who did contract hauling before retiring 18 years ago.
He enjoyed building model airplanes and cars, collecting guns, and was a licensed pilot who recreationally flew Cessna 150’s. He loved to work on cars as a hobby and was an avid reader of aeronautical and World War II literature.
Surviving Mr. Barrett is one daughter, Amy Laurie Anaya of Carlsbad, New Mexico; one brother, Michael Barrett of Bastrop, Texas; one sister, Neila Barrett of Lubbock, Texas; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Barry Kyle Barrett.
