Dixie L. King, 67, of Slaton, passed away on Sunday, May 30, 2021 at her residence.

She was born, the youngest of 5 children, on January 22, 1954 in Camp Kilmer (Middlesex County), New Jersey to the late Robert and June (Kelley) King.

Dixie graduated from Sterling High School in Baytown, Texas and later attended Lee College in Baytown, graduating with an AA Degree in Nursing.

Dixie worked for a few years as a nurse and then became an electrician, earning her Journeyman’s License. Over the years she rose to become a Commercial Electrical Inspector. She worked in a wide variety of locations, including Afghanistan, Iraq, the Naval Shipyard near Mobile, Alabama, a gold mine in Nome, AK and Riverton, WY, as well as several other places. She retired a few years ago to return to her beloved Texas.

Those left to cherish her memory include one sister, Sandy Fisher of Lubbock; two brothers, Bob King of Baytown and Billy King of Lubbock. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and June King, and a brother, USMC Major Allen King.

Services for Dixie will be announced at a later date.

I am grateful to have great memories with Dixie. She will always be the "spoons" champion. I'll never forget her laugh and care free spirit!
