Lydia Prado, 84, of Lubbock, passed away Friday evening, September 3, 2021. She was born in Lubbock on June 16, 1937, to the late Chalo Florez and Maria (Flores) Florez. She married Juan S. Prado in 1954 in Tahoka. Mr. Prado preceded her in death in June of 2012.
Mrs. Prado was a housekeeper and a babysitter retiring in 1999. She loved baseball games, planting flowers, and cooking for her family and friends. She was especially fond of all her grandchildren and was the center of her family. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
Survivors include four sons: Ben Flores of San Antonio, Juan Prado, Tony Prado and Roy Prado, all of Lubbock; two daughters: Angie O’Loughlin and Elizabeth Prado of Lubbock; three brothers: Lupe Rios, Sonny Florez and Leroy Rios, all of Lubbock; three sisters: Juanita Canava and Ida Gomez of Belton and Maria Nunez of Lubbock; 15 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; one son, Bobby Prado; one brother, Julian Rios, and one sister, Geneva Gonzalez.
Visitation for Mrs. Prado will be Thursday, September 9, 2021, from 4 to 8 PM in the Combest Family Memorial Chapel, with Recitation of the Rosary at 7 PM. The Funeral Mass will be held at 10 AM on Friday, September 10, 2021, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with Father Raymundo Manriquez as the Celebrant. Burial will follow in Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Brian O’Loughlin, Ricky O’Loughlin, Matthew Benitez, Ben Isaac Flores, Sonny Florez and Chris Prado.
At the request of Mrs. Prado’s children, they wish to extend their special appreciation to two of their mother’s granddaughters, Crystal and Zenia, for the devoted attention and care they bestowed upon her before and after her passing. They also want to give a special thank you to Linda Prado.

To my wonderful mother, mom, mamasita. How do I say goodbye to you?
