Loyce “Mawmaw” Lenning, 87, of Lubbock, passed away on Friday night, September 24, 2021. She was born in Abernathy, Texas on November 25, 1933, to the late Carroll Lee Owen and Katie Earlene (Heath) Owen.
She grew up in Abernathy, graduating from Abernathy High School in 1951, and then attended business school. Mrs. Lenning worked as an auditor in the insurance business. She loved to read, do puzzles, play trivia and enjoyed bowling. She especially loved to work in her yard and do gardening, and was fond of her cat, Rascal. To her loving family, she was known as “Mawmaw.” Mrs. Lenning was a long-time member of Sunset Church of Christ.
Survivors include one son, Tim Lenning (wife Ladeana) of Lubbock; four daughters: Sherry Hooser (husband Steve) of North Richland Hills, Texas, Kathy Sumpter (husband Eric) of Longmont, Colorado, Pam Pennington (husband Bill) of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Ramona Anselmo of Central Point, Oregon; three sisters: Willene Dunn of Abernathy, Diann Smith of Idalou and Paula Clark of Lubbock; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters: Betty Pearce, Floyce Gould and Bobby Cloud.
Funeral services will be held at 11 A. M. on Tuesday, September 28, 2021, in the Combest Family Memorial Chapel. Jackie Qualls will be the officiant for the service. Graveside services will be held at 2 P. M. in the Abernathy Cemetery in Abernathy, Texas.
Pallbearers will be Jaden Timmons, John Duff, Rob Price, Jonathan Hooser, Eric Sumpter and Clifton Eade.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Tanglewood Village, 5501 34th Street, Lubbock TX 79407.
