Nancy Quintanilla, 59, of Lubbock, passed away Thursday afternoon, October 7, 2021. She was born in Lockney, Floyd County, Texas on July 17, 1962, to Felis (Bela) Arebalo and the late Rudy Arebalo.

She grew up in Lockney before moving to Petersburg with her family and then moving to Lubbock in 1970. She attended and graduated from Estacado High School in 1981. Following high school, she later attended South Plains College graduating with an Associates Degree with a major in art. She attended Texas Tech University, graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in multi-disciplinary education in 1994.

She married Billy Quintanilla on June 17, 1995, in Lubbock, Texas, where they have made their home and raised their two children.

Nancy loved teaching and taught for LISD for 20 years, teaching Pre-K at Mahon, Harwell and Ramirez before retiring in 2015. She also taught Sunday School for 10 years at Ministerios Nueva Vida in Lubbock. Her favorite time of the year was Christmas and loved to go all out. She loved to travel and was totally family oriented and cared deeply about each and everyone. She lived for the first day of school each year, and spent countless hours preparing for this and adorning her classroom for "her" kids. A highlight of her school year was to take her kids on a field trip to the Corn Maze in Lubbock each year.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband; one son, Caleb Rene Quintanilla and his girlfriend Hannah, of Lubbock; one daughter, Faith Aseneth Quintanilla of Lubbock; her furbaby, Rico; two sisters, Michelle Arebalo of San Antonio and Irene Arebalo of Lubbock; two brothers, Raymond (Jennifer) Arebalo and Tim (Lupe) Cooks of Lubbock. She is also survived by her mother, Felis Arebalo of Lubbock. She was preceded in death by her father in 2020 and two brothers, Michael Arebalo, in 1993 and Rudy Arebalo, Jr. in 1995.

Visitation for Mrs. Quintanilla will be from 3 to 8 P. M. on Monday, October 11, 2021, in the Combest Family Memorial Chapel. Family will receive friends from 5 to 6 P. M. that evening. Funeral services will be at 10 A. M. on Tuesday, October 12, 2021, in the Combest Family Memorial Chapel. Pastor Morry Martinez will be the officiant. Burial will follow in the City of Lubbock Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Nicholas Martinez, Ethan Martinez, Jonas Madrid, Jerry Madrid, Daniel Bermea and Zachary Cooks. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeremiah Trujillo, Louis Madrano and Michael Cooks.

In lieu of flowers, the Quintanilla family requests memorial donations be sent to Ramirez Elementary School, ATTN: Pre-K Program, 702 Avenue T, Lubbock TX 79401.
