On Sunday, April 24, 2022, Fidencio “Kiko” Salinas left this world to be with our Lord and Savior. Kiko passed away after suffering from complications due to a stroke. He was a native of South Texas, but lived in Lubbock, Tx for over 50 years. He was born in Raymondville, Texas on November 16, 1948 to Matiana Lara and Lorenzo Salinas, it is then that he joined his older sister Tules who was a year old.
Throughout his life Kiko was a loving and caring son, brother, nephew, cousin, uncle and friend. His hobbies included listening to Tejano music, teaching himself to play guitar, watching TV, sports, movies and novellas. He also loved to spend time with family and friends. He served in the United States Army for six years from 1967 to 1972, servicing two tours in South Korea during the Vietnam War.
He was a welder for Eagle Pitcher. After he retired, he decided to continue working a saying that he was too young to be sitting at home. He worked as a mechanic for American Automotive for over a decade and the worked for Ashley Furniture assembling furniture to keep busy.
Kiko is survived by eight siblings, Tules Garcia (Gilbert) of Grand Prairie, Tx, Jesus Salinas (Mary) of McAllen, Tx; Maria Gonzalez (Perfecto) of Las Milpas, Tx. From Wilson, North Carolina, Rosario Segura (Reynaldo), and Guadalupe Rodriguez (Esperanza). From Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Mexico, Roman Rodriguez, Felipe Rodriguez (Noelia) and Alfredo Rodriguez.
He is also survived by his 27 nieces and nephews, 40 great-nieces and great-nephews, 1 great-great nephew and 1 great-great niece. His maternal uncle Moises Lara of Shallowater and many maternal cousins all of whom live in the Shallowater and Lubbock area. He is also survived by his caring friends.
Among those surviving Kiko are his extended family members, Jerry, Polly, Stephen and Nicolas Martinez. A very special and heartfelt thank you to them for loving and always being there for Kiko and for being with him as he took his final breath in this life and passed on to his eternal one.
Kiko was predeceased by his beloved mother Matiana Lara, his father Lorenzo Salinas, his stepfather Isaac Rodriguez and his brother Genaro Rodriguez. His maternal aunts and uncles Fidel and Herminia Lara, Cipriano Lara, Maria Hernandez, Socorro and Ramiro Cuellar and Gumercinda Lara.
Per his request there will be no viewing or service. Kiko chose to be cremated. A memorial graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery.
