Bradley Rees Hurst was born in Ogden, Utah on February 8, 1963 to James Charles and Joan Rees Hurst. Brad was a precocious, adventurous child. He joined his parents, two older siblings, Kathy and Jeff and a younger sister Jennie in family adventures. Brad had lived and traveled from coast to coast in the United States before he was 3 years old. He loved playing outside and building model cars. As he became older he loved riding the family motorcycles, snow skiing in the mountains of Colorado and Utah and water skiing at Lake Powell. He met and married Sherry Pocock soon after graduating from McCallum high school in Austin, TX. He furthered his education by graduating from Wyoming Technical Institute in Laramie, Wyoming with certification earned in the automotive technology program. Brad worked as an auto mechanic for many years and was always a great resource for family and friends as they would often call him, describe a problem, and provide examples of the noises the car was making. Brad would accurately diagnose the issue and give advice on the repair. A sweet daughter, Jessica Danielle, soon joined the family. Brad and his family lived in the Houston, Texas area for several years.
Brad later moved back to Austin and met and married LeeAnne DeGhetto. Together they raised a son, Bradley James. Brad valued the time he had in supporting Bradley in his pursuit of hockey and music in the Austin, TX area. Brad's love of cars carried over into a passion for NASCAR racing. Brad shifted his career to the insurance industry and was a successful claims and warranty assessor.
Brad married Catherine Sox and welcomed Meadow Ione to their family. Brad doted on Meadow and loved spending time talking with her late into the night.
Brad passed away after an extended period of time in the intensive care unit on Sunday, April 24 in Lubbock, TX surrounded by his family and children.
The extended Hurst family wishes to thank the UMC Hospital Intensive Care Unit for their loving attention and dedicated efforts on behalf of Brad.
