Father Timothy E. Judd

Father Timothy E. Judd, 93, of Lubbock, and retired Priest of The Diocese of Lubbock, passed from this life on Monday, January 11, 2021. Father Judd was a resident of Bender Terrace Nursing Home at the time of his passing.
Father Judd was born on November 2, 1927 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Cecil M. and Rosella M. Judd. Father Timothy was the sixth of nine children in his family. He enlisted in the U. S. Navy in 1946 and received an honorable discharge in 1947. He entered the Clerics of Saint Viator in 1948, where he studied in the Catholic Institute in Chicago, and was ordained by Cardinal Stritch in Arlington Heights, Illinois on August 15, 1956. He celebrated his first Mass on August 16, 1956 at St. Barnabus Church in Chicago.
Father Judd was diligent in studies and education, attending Saint Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa, graduating with a B. A. in Philosophy; Catholic University in Washington, DC with a Degree in Theology; University of Maryland (College Park, MD) with a Masters in Education, as well as the University of Notre Dame with a Masters in Religious Education.
Numerous assignments followed, and those include teaching at Archbishop Stepinar High School (1952) in White Plains, NY; the Spalding Institute (1957) in Peoria, Illinois; Saint Gregory High School (1958-1962) in Chicago; Colegio San Viator (1962-1965) in Bogata, Columbia; Saint Viator High School (1966-1971) in Arlington Heights, Illinois; Bishop Gorman High School (1974) in Fort Lauderdale, Florida; College Chaplain at Saint Leo College (1974-1976) in Saint Leo, Florida.
Father Judd also taught in the Aldine ISD (1977-1990), in Houston, Texas, and he taught at the Holy Apostles Seminary (1990-1991). He then served as Parochial Vicar at Sacred Heart Church (March 1992) in Plainview, followed by an assignment as Associate Pastor at Christ the King Cathedral Catholic Church in Lubbock.
In July of 1995, he served as Pastor at St. Joseph Church in Rotan, Texas as well as St. Mary’s in Aspermont, Texas and Sacred Heart Church near Hamlin, Texas. Following these assignments in 1996, Father Judd worked in hospital ministry as a Chaplain at Methodist Hospital (currently Covenant Medical Center). Father Judd retired on July 1, 1998 at the young age of 71.
During Father Judd’s enormous life experiences, he enjoyed reading, bike riding, the beach, swimming and camping. Father Judd documented that the best, and most fulfilling part of his ministry was teaching Catholic Education and the Service of the Holy Altar Liturgy.
Due to COVID restrictions, the Bishop of the Diocese of Lubbock has instructed that there will be no public viewing, visitation or Rosary Services.
Graveside Services for Father Judd will be held at 11:00 A. M. on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Littlefield, Texas. Most Reverend Robert M. Coerver, Bishop of the Diocese of Lubbock and Father Bill Anton, Pastor of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Plainview, will serve as the Celebrants at the graveside.
Memorial donations, in memory of Father Timothy E. Judd, were requested by him to Christ the King Cathedral Catholic School, 4011 54th Street, Lubbock, Texas 79413.
The Diocese of Lubbock, and at the request of Father Judd, has entrusted his final care to Combest Family Funeral Homes and Crematory in Lubbock, Texas.
