Jimmy Ray “Red” Waller, 77, of Lubbock passed away on Friday, March 26, 2021. He was born in Crosbyton, Texas on September 28, 1943. On August 8, 1960 he married Judy Goodgion in Morton. Shortly after marrying Judy, he joined the U.S. Navy in December. Jimmy served in the navy for four years and was stationed on the USS Coontz which was made famous when President Kennedy made an appearance.
After honorable discharge, Jimmy began working at the family business, Sparks Roofing, as a roofer. He later spent 10 years at Bee Equipment before retiring in 2010. He enjoyed the outdoors camping and fishing. One of his favorite hobbies was raising birds, anything from quails to peacocks.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Judy of Lubbock; children, Cindy Land of Lubbock, Barry Waller and fiancé Julia Berry of New Deal, and Mindy Ellis and husband, Charlie of El Paso; nine grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Venus and Frankie Sparks and three siblings.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 28, 2021 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Combest Family Funeral Homes. Graveside services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 29, 2021 at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park.
