Obituary

Brandon Jodel Wood of Olton, formerly of Lubbock, passed away on Sunday, October 18, 2026, at the age of 54. He was born March 28, 1972, in Lubbock, Texas, to the late Jackie and Zella (Strother) Wood. The youngest of six children, Brandon grew up surrounded by family, developing the outgoing personality, quick wit, and sense of humor that would become such a memorable part of who he was. He was a graduate of Monterey High School.

Brandon was a talented and hardworking man with a remarkable ability to understand how things worked. He spent many years working as an electrician at the LPL Power Plant and was also a gifted computer programmer, sharing his knowledge and skills with various businesses across the United States. His intelligence, creativity, and natural curiosity allowed him to excel in whatever he set his mind to.

Music was one of Brandon's greatest passions. He loved every genre and seemed to know the words to just about every song ever written. For Brandon, music was meant to be played loud, sung with enthusiasm, and danced to without hesitation. Whether he was singing along to a favorite tune or getting others on their feet, he had a way of turning an ordinary moment into a celebration. He was a true people person who never met a stranger. His quick wit, playful sarcasm, and infectious sense of humor kept those around him laughing. Brandon simply loved life, and it showed in the way he embraced every day. He also enjoyed spending time outdoors, appreciating the freedom and simple pleasures that came with being outside.

On August 26, 2010, Brandon married his wife, Elida, and together they made their home in Olton. Above all, Brandon will be remembered for his larger-than-life personality, his love of music, and the laughter and joy he brought into the lives of those who knew him. He had a gift for making people smile, and his spirited approach to life will leave lasting memories with his family and friends.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Elida Wood of Olton; children, Canen Scott and wife Erica, and Samuel, Lori, Christian, Xavier, and Anthony; grandchildren, Sebastian, Donavan, Payton, Jimmy, Javien, Khaleesi, Camryn, and Illiana; and siblings, Dana Ellis and husband John, Johna Smith and husband Tommy, Lance Wood and wife Sandra, Shea Lowery, and Ann Marie Edmondson; as well as extended family.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.
