Cecilia Z. Aguirre of Lubbock passed away on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at the age of 96. She was born on June 14, 1930, in Cameron, Texas, and made her home in Lubbock, Texas, where she built a legacy of faith, love, and devotion that will continue for generations.
Cecilia was a woman whose life was firmly rooted in her Catholic faith. She was a faithful member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and devoted many years of service to her church community. She proudly served as a Guadalupana, participated in the Eucharistic Ministry, and was actively involved in the Cursillo Movement. Her faith was not simply something she practiced, it was the foundation upon which she lived her life, guided her family, and served others.
More than anything, Cecilia treasured her family. She found her greatest joy in gathering with loved ones, sharing meals, celebrating milestones, and creating memories that will forever be cherished. Her home and heart were always open, and her presence brought warmth, comfort, and love to those around her. She also had a special bond with her beloved grand dog, Chase, whose companionship brought her much happiness throughout the years.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Carlos Aguirre and six siblings.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Carmen Aguirre and Kathy Aguirre, both of Lubbock; four grandchildren, Clara Martinez and husband Eric, Veronica Soliz, Monica Lopez and husband Roy, and Esther Rodriguez and husband Joe, all of Lubbock; 18 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; three siblings, Juanita Garcia and Andrea Vidaurre of Lubbock and Benita Zapata of Dallas; her cherished grand dog, Chase; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, church family, and dear friends whose lives were blessed by knowing her.
Visitation will begin at 2:00 pm, Sunday, August 23, 2026, with Rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m., at Venue on Broadway, 2202 Broadway. A Funeral Mass celebrating Cecilia's life and faith will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, August 24, 2026, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Pallbearers will be Eric Martinez, Roy Lopez, Joe Rodriguez, Gregory Diaz, Juan Chavez, and Joel Vidaurre.
The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to her devoted CNA’s: Lora Rivera, Pamela Barnes and Maria Sanders, Nurses: Jamie, Tommy, Roshon, Delia, Daniel and Audi; Bridge Hospice as well as BeyondFaith Hospice, and the staff at Heritage Oaks Nursing and Rehab for the compassionate care, kindness, and support shown to Cecilia and her family during this difficult time.
