Charlie
Adams
July 31, 1934 – June 16, 2026
Charles "Charlie" Adams of Lubbock, formerly of Collins, Colorado, passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, surrounded by family. Born on July 31, 1934, in Meridian, Mississippi, Charlie completed high school and joined the United States Air Force, serving four years of active duty followed by three years in the reserves. Following his military service, Charlie forged a distinguished career as a manager for AT&T, formerly Southwestern Bell. This professional journey was one of both leadership and mentorship, testifying to his commitment and capability in the telecommunications field.
Charlie had a passion for buying and rebuilding cars. This pastime allowed him to blend his mechanical prowess with his inherently playful spirit, as he was known among family and friends as a consummate jokester, always ready to lighten the room with a well-timed quip or a hearty laugh. He was a proud Veteran that actively supported the Elks Lodge, VFW, American Legion and Moose Lodge.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of more than 70 years, Blanche Adams; daughter, Stephanie Reneau, and her husband, Tipton, of Lubbock; and granddaughters, Morgan Sisson and her husband Jon Michael of Lubbock, and Ashton Reneau of Dallas. Charlie also leaves behind his siblings: Rev. William Adams and wife Diane, Steve Adams and wife Darla, Shirley Stubbs and late husband Tom, and Linda Nance and husband Tom; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, W. E. Adams and Katie McGee; son, Charles Adams II, who passed away in 1975; and sister, Christine Jones and husband Ray.
Memorial services are pending at this time.
