Cody Michael Knotts, 32, of Lubbock passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2026. He was born on February 16, 1994, in Lubbock, Texas, where he grew up and attended Cooper School.
Growing up, Cody loved playing YFL football. Even as a young boy, he was often so much bigger than the other kids that he wasn’t allowed to tackle—a story that became a memorable part of his childhood.
Cody found peace and comfort outdoors. He loved fishing and camping and enjoyed simply being surrounded by nature. Some of his most peaceful moments were spent near the lake, quietly watching the water move and appreciating the calmness around him.
An avid animal lover, Cody had a special place in his heart for animals, especially his two dogs. They were beloved companions and brought him great comfort and happiness.
Music was also an important part of Cody’s life, and his taste covered just about every genre. He enjoyed everything from guitar music and rap to old rock and roll, with ZZ Top among his favorites. He also enjoyed watching old Western shows, and when it came to holidays, nothing compared to Halloween—his favorite time of the year.
Above all, Cody will be remembered as a kind, loving, and genuinely sweet person. He had a gentle nature and a caring heart that those closest to him will deeply miss. Though his life was far too short, the love he gave and the memories he created will remain with his family and friends.
Cody is survived by his father, Mike Knotts and wife, Janice Gage; his mother, Melissa Logan; and his siblings, Derek Dye, Cassandra Johnson-Powers and husband, Kaden, Jessica Quap, Jenny Meliville, and Shelby Gage, all of Lubbock.
Services for Cody will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at Combest Family Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at the City of Lubbock Cemetery.
