Dana Sue Bashore, 82, of Lubbock, Texas, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2026.

Dana was born on November 22, 1943, in Medford, Oregon, to Thomas William Porter and Agnes Rose Latson. She was born at Camp White during World War II, a detail that became a special part of her family history.

Dana met her husband, Harold Edward Bashore, on a blind date, and the two went on to build a life and family together. She was a devoted mother to their two children, Leia (Donato) Arteaga and Brian Bashore.

Dana was a teacher by profession and later retired from teaching. Retirement, however, did not keep her from doing what she loved. She continued working in the school cafeteria, remaining a familiar and caring presence in the lives of students.

Dana had a curious mind and a true kid-at-heart spirit. She loved books, reading, history, dinosaurs, and butterflies. She had a particular love for Greek history, and in her twenties, she had the opportunity to travel to Greece, creating memories that stayed with her throughout her life. She also enjoyed Celtic Women's music and had an appreciation for learning and discovering new things.

Those who knew Dana would describe her as sweet and easygoing. Family was at the heart of her life, and the annual family reunion each summer was a tradition she cherished. She treasured the time spent together and the memories made with the people she loved.

Dana will be lovingly remembered by her children, Leia (Donato) Arteaga and Brian Bashore; her sister, Kathi Turner; her brother, Thomas Porter; grandchildren, Serenity, Jace, Emma, and Elijah; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harold Edward Bashore; her parents, Thomas William Porter and Agnes Rose Latson; her brother, Zachary Ward Porter; and her mother-in-law, Agnes Abney Bashore.
