Obituary

Danny Leon Casteel, 76, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 17, at 10:43 a.m. at Ralls Rehab Ranch in Ralls, Texas, from natural causes. He will be remembered for his dedication to his work, his love of family, and the special place horses and dogs held in his heart.

Danny was born in Memphis, Texas, to Junior and Betty Casteel. After losing his father at a young age, Danny left school, later earned his GED, and began working to build a life for himself. He developed a strong work ethic and went on to build a long career in the fire sprinkler industry.

Danny began his career at Casteel Automatic Fire Protection, working alongside his uncle Kenneth and uncle Dale Throughout the years, he worked for several companies, but he often found his way back to Casteel.

Danny was committed to his profession, completing all of his NICET testing and earning his RME license. He was also a member of Sprinkler Fitters Local Union 669. He also helped start Allied fire protection.

In addition to his professional career, Danny served his community as a volunteer police officer in Forney, Texas.

Outside of work, Danny found joy in the simple things that meant the most to him. He loved his horses and the dogs he had throughout the years, but above all, he loved his family. The memories he created with those he loved will remain in their hearts for years to come.

Danny is survived by his loving wife, Penny Casteel of Crosbyton, Texas; his daughter, Dana Mahan, and her husband, Paul, of Friendswood, Texas; and his son, Roby Wellington, and his wife, Kristen, of California.

He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren: Lacey Dimmick and her husband, Tim, of Dickinson, Texas; Kayla Mahan and her boyfriend, Blaine Carter, of La Porte, Texas; Kyler Mahan and his girlfriend, Giana Blackburn, of Friendswood, Texas; Alec Wellington and his wife, Lauren, of California; and Jessica Guillory and her husband, Dane, of Burkburnett, Texas; and Taylor Roger of Crosbyton, Texas.

Danny was also blessed with six great-grandchildren: Kyla Dimmick, Johnathan Dimmick, Caydee Dimmick, Marina Hernandez, Ariel Wellington, and Stacy Wellington.

He is further survived by his two brothers, Randy Casteel and his wife, Pam, and Marcus Casteel and his wife, Debbie; and his two sisters, Lorrie Casteel and Sharon Temple and her husband, Marty.

Danny will be deeply missed by his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings, extended family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched throughout the years. Though he is no longer with us, the love he gave, the work he took pride in, and the memories he leaves behind will continue to live on through the people who loved him.

A celebration of Danny's life will be held at a later date.

May he rest in peace, forever loved and never forgotten.
