Obituary

Jennifer Magers of Lubbock passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at the age of 68. She was born on September 9, 1957, in Lake Charles, Louisiana to William and Barbara (Gay) McClellan. Jennifer was the cherished daughter of a military father and devoted minister, instilling in her a deep sense of faith and commitment to service from a young age.

After graduating high school in Mount Prospect, Illinois, she pursued further education at York College in Nebraska and later at Abilene Christian University. It was there that she met Brent Magers, whom she married on December 16, 1978. Upon moving to Lubbock, Jennifer dedicated herself to her role as an office manager for over seven years before immersing herself fully in her greatest passions—being a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother for more than 40 years. Her unwavering support and selflessness radiated through every aspect of her life. Jennifer's active involvement in the South Plains Church of Christ was a testament to her commitment to her faith and community.

Jennifer had a remarkable talent for quilting, winning numerous awards, and found joy in the pages of countless books, proofing numerous manuscripts for professional authors. Her kindness and compassion touched the hearts of many, as she was always the ultimate encourager, ready to lend a listening ear or a helping hand.

She is survived by her loving husband of over 47 years, Brent Magers; their two sons, Brad Magers and wife Melissa of Abilene, and Jeremy Magers and wife Elizabeth of Franklin, Tennessee; five grandchildren, Jackson Slaughter, Rosemary, Clara, Frances, and William Magers; her mother, Barbara McClellan of Lubbock; and her siblings, William McClellan, Jr. and his wife Jan of Georgetown, and Benjamin McClellan and his wife Danette of Kansas City, Missouri.

Jennifer was preceded in death by her father, William McClellan, Sr. and two brothers, David and Timothy McClellan.

Memorial services are scheduled for 2:00 pm, Friday, July 17, 2026 at the South Plains Church of Christ. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Children’s Home of Lubbock, Attn: Compass Independent Living Program, PO Box 2824, Lubbock, Texas 79408 or https://childshome.org/contact-us/?campaign=752505
