Obituary

Jerry Wayne Hosch, 80, of Lubbock, Texas, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, August 1, 2026.

Jerry was born on September 14, 1945, on Sand Mountain, in Pisgah, Alabama, to Birkett Chatton Hosch and Debbie Bailey Hosch. His family moved to Abilene, TX to farm, where he eventually made his way to Lorenzo, TX before settling in Lubbock, TX. Jerry attended Lubbock High School and Texas Tech University.

Jerry was known for his strong work ethic and dedication to his craft. He worked for many years at Carpet World before pursuing his dream of owning his own business. He founded Hosch Floor Covering, in 1995 where he faithfully served the Lubbock community until his retirement.

Jerry was a natural jokester who loved making people laugh. A devoted sports fan, he especially enjoyed cheering on the Texas Rangers, Dallas Cowboys and Texas Tech Red Raiders. He also was a talented athlete who played minor league baseball for many years.

In his free time, Jerry enjoyed golfing, bowling, fishing, and playing pool. His athletic accomplishments were remarkable: he made several holes-in-one and at least two of them were confirmed! Jerry ran the table in pool multiple times and bowled several perfect games with scores of 300. He loved to fish and he seemed to always catch the biggest fish. Jerry will be remembered for his humor, competitive spirit, and extraordinary athletic ability.

Jerry treasured the people in his life above all else. Those left to cherish his memory include his faithful companion of many years, Martha Milford; his children, Jerry Wayne Hosch Jr. (Corrie), Sherry Coomer (Michael), Michelle Forsman, Jason Hosch, and Eric Hosch (Becky Ivey); grandchildren, Ciara Frost (Tanner), Chatton Hosch (Anna Casey), Courtland Hosch (Lily), Taylor Coomer (Seth Gregory), Samantha Coomer (Baylor Campbell), Elijah Jolley, Lucas Hosch (Pearl Gonzales); great-grandchildren, Maddox Frost, Lennon Frost, Rosie Hosch, Kamarie, Kaylee, and 2 more on the way, Winni Lucille and Summit; and brother, B.C. Hosch (Karen).

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Louise Ballinger, Jo Kizer, and Yvonne Pierot.

A memorial service celebrating Jerry's life will be at Combest Family Funeral Homes in the chapel at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 9th.
