Josefina V. Belgara departed on October 8, 2026, in Lubbock, Texas, leaving behind a lifetime of cherished memories and a family who loved her deeply.
Born on March 23, 1950, in Mathis, Texas, to Jose and Gabriela Valdez, Josefina was a devoted and caring mother whose laughter and vibrant spirit filled the lives of her family and friends with joy. Life was brighter in her presence, and there was never a dull moment when she was near. She delighted in amusement parks and roller coasters, traveling, and setting out on road trips. She also loved music, filling the room with her beautiful singing voice and graceful dance moves as she enjoyed her favorite songs.
Above all, Josefina treasured time with her family. Getting to know her great-grandchildren and sharing as many moments with them as possible brought her immeasurable happiness. She also enjoyed shopping and lovingly built an extensive collection of vintage clothing. In quieter moments, she found pleasure in needlepoint, sewing, and gaming—an interest that began with Game Boys.
Josefina was a faithful member of St. Patrick’s Church, where she lovingly served her Lord and Savior. Her generous and compassionate heart was evident in the way she cared for others and made certain that everyone around her felt supported and loved.
Josefina will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her husband, Jose D. Belgara; her sons, Joey Belgara Jr. and Rafael Belgara (Daina); her daughters, Jennifer Belgara (Albert) and Jeanette Belgara (Windell); her sisters, Elida Ramirez, Rose Mary Valdez, and Stella Sanchez; her brothers, Juan Valdez, Lucio Valdez, Ben Valdez, and Alejandro Valdez; her 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren
Josefina was preceded in death by her beloved grandparents, Luz and Dominga Garcia; her parents, Jose and Gabriela Valdez; her brothers, Alfredo Valdez, Joe Valdez Jr., and Antonio Valdez; and her sister, Gloria Valdez. Their memories remained a treasured part of her life.
Momma Love will be missed more than words can express. We will forever carry her love, laughter, and unwavering devotion in our hearts, remembering the warmth and joy she brought to our family and friends. Though we grieve her absence, her beautiful spirit will live on through the countless lives she touched and the treasured memories we will hold close always.
